About
Long Beach Community Cat Foundation is a privately funded 501(c) 3 dedicated to the belief that one of the solutions to overcrowded in shelters and rescues is that we have a cat overpopulation problem. There are many dedicated hard working rescues in Long Beach that focus on fostering and adoption but they are struggling to keep up because there are so many kittens being born in the community. The lucky ones make it to rescues the unlucky ones don’t make it. The main goal of LBCCF is to stabilize and possibly reduce community cat population
Long Beach Animal Care Services does a very good job of providing their data to the public. Below is a link to the Dashboad of that data showing intakes and other historical data
No-Kill Designation
Did you know that many organizations decide their shelter no-kill status based on their Live Release Rate and Save rates. The link below discusses how these numbers are determined. In general 90% or higher is considered "no-kill"
I like flow charts. It helps me visualize the interaction of various organizations. This is the way I see the interaction of the Community Cat organizations in Long Beach. I divide it into three major organizations (1) TNR/Community Cats, (2) Shelter (LBACS) and (3) Rescues. This is very streamlined and basic. It does not flow chart medical cases that are inevitable in TNR.
